It’s no surprise that National Wine & Spirits’ origins are in beverage alcohol distribution.  Today, however, the family of National Wine & Spirits, Inc. & NWS Holdings, LLC companies finds itself building business and competing in diverse industries ranging from cloud-based healthcare software to oil-spill cleanup technology to concussion-detecting devices to…of course, beverage alcohol distribution.

Proud History of Innovation at National

  • 1934 - Founded in Indianapolis as National Liquor Company, Permit #7.
  • 1972 - Purchased by investors led by Jim LaCrosse; National is one of 27 wholesalers in IN.
  • 1987 - 1st wholesaler to consolidate market to 2 (IN).
  • 1994 - 1st wholesaler with batch-pick, dual-sortation, scanner material handling system (Chicago).
  • 1997 - 1st ADA to ship product (MI).
  • 1998 - Midwest wholesaler of choice for many suppliers, including Seagram & Beam.
  • 1999 - 1st wholesaler to issue public debt ($110M bonds).
  • 2000 - Seagram sold & split up, beginning wave of supplier and wholesaler consolidation.
  • 2012 - NWS Holdings, LLC formed as vehicle for venture and entrepreneurial investments.
  • 2014 - Completed strategic partnership with RNDC in beverage alcohol distribution: KY, IN, MI.
